Mental functionality of things

This project was part of DDW 2022

These hybrid forms do not impose functionality on the common sense of design. They are based on poetic ambiguity and aspire to create a new “library of forms”, a universe with which it is possible to reinvent, to rediscover and mobilize associative properties.

Game of artistic and scientific discourses

This project relies on the work of writer Roger Caillois "The writing of stones". Here the subject of his attention is the phenomenon of the fantastic in nature, which is excessively subtle and which can neither be described nor truly named.

In the course of his analytical thought he refers to emotional perception, and thereby also to the intellectual understanding of what we see. So he tries to find a mechanism for the effect of the mysterious on a person.
Here the author sees the role of this phenomenon, which occurs in nature, or created by man, is not just a whim, not a ruse, it is true to its essence, which consists in directing the mind towards a reality that is still unknown, accessible only to the unconscious. The unconscious, which has its own language, its own system and mechanism, builds on the basis of all individually accumulated experience.

Natural sophistication

The biomorphic aesthetics reside in our collective heart and lead to creation of metaphors of nature, related to that individual experience. It becomes an emancipation that invites reflection or even transformation of the relationship between the individual and the environment.
The natural patterns of all the objects show respect for the unknown, for a complex biodiversity; it creates a space for a certain type of living relations to objects in which these are thought of as living beings or systems.
The aim is the development of the research into the notion of unconsciousness in our perception of things, using nature patterns in order to show what lies beyond us, what we cannot access without scientific tools; to speak about power, liberty, autonomy and interdependence in nature; and embody these knowledges through an art form and express in its own way which differs from that of science.
