(Archive) Stimuleringsfonds presents Talent

51 up-and-coming design talents show what it means to be given free space for artistic and professional growth.

This project was part of DDW 2022

Every year up-and-coming design talents are given the opportunity to develop optimally both artistically and professionally thanks to a grant from the Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie. The class of 2022 is now portrayed in one-minute film portraits.

2022 class

How can you design from touch and feel? What is the best diet for our soil? And how will we dress in the future when our clothes are living beings?

The class of 2022 is diverse and motivated by a sense of urgency. They all want to play an active role in necessary social changes. What is the fresh approach chosen by this new generation? Moving on the waves of current events, they face the future with a surprisingly hopeful attitude, with courage and with freedom.

Dancing with Trouble

In addition to the film portraits, the designers and makers present themselves to the public in person via the programme "Dancing with Trouble". Five themes are leading here. "Beyond Bodies" is about no longer putting people first and learning to listen to nature and other entities. "Longing to Belong" addresses the sense of detachment that many people are struggling with in this hyper-individualistic age. "Sensing Forward" refers to the increasing recognition of feelings and experiences as a valuable and valid source of knowledge. "Relating to Land(scapes)" focuses on our future landscape and the new skills and behaviours we need to develop to live and navigate with each other. And finally "Power to the Personal" focuses on practices in which personal stories play an important role.

"Dancing with Trouble" is curated by curator urban environment Eva van Breugel, curator and strategic consultant on the intersection of fashion, design, art and society Esther Muñoz Grootveld and curator, writer and researcher in the field of contemporary (media) art, visual and digital culture Manique Hendricks.
