(Archive) Regenerative Community Jam

How might we regenerate the health of living systems in the places and communities that we live in?

This project was part of DDW 2022

Through various interactive activities, this workshop aims to open up ways for participants to gain an understanding of the context of “regenerative design” and how to apply it in their day-to-day lives—through aligning "ways of thinking" with the processes of nature.

What is Regenerative Design?

Instead of learning how to do less damage to the environment, it is necessary to learn how one can participate with the environment by using the health of ecological systems as a basis for design… The role of designers and stakeholders is to create a whole system of mutually beneficial relationships. By doing so, the potential for green design moves beyond sustaining the environment to one that can regenerate its health – as well as our own.

Regeneration means putting the generation of life at the center of every action and decision. Regenerative design and development are that which support the flourishing of all life, for all time. How might we regenerate the health of living systems in the places and communities that we live in? Regenerative design is about learning to see, think and act in a way that respects and builds on the potential of the places we live in, while benefiting social and ecological systems.

What should I expect from this workshop?

Practical case studies of “regenerative” projects will be examined and strategies for considering this as a designer will be outlined. Join this workshop and get inspired to reframe and elevate your thinking and approach to “sustainability”, and feel equipped to take action rooted in long-term thinking and care, collective imagination, and regenerative design.

This workshop will help reframe and elevate your thinking and approach to “sustainability” in a way that awakens your potential and motivation so that you can play a vital role in supporting higher levels of sustainability for the design of your future projects and business.

Who are we looking for?

We invite people from all sorts of backgrounds to come together to learn from existing stories and experiment with ideas for flourishing regenerative futures! Through the varied projects, experiments and experiences, we open up ways for people to take cultural action rooted in long-term thinking and care, collective imagination, and regenerative design.
