UNISON is three identical stackable stools that have noses for legs and a flower shaped cushion. When stacked, it reveals its true form and becomes a sculptural element. The features complete each other to show faces all around it, representing our community that came together in times of crises.

About Limbo

The name of the project LIMBO has multiple meanings; other than the obvious definition of the word: “an uncertain period of awaiting a decision or resolution; an intermediate state or condition” Limbo is also derived from limbs, which I use in an objectifying way in my furniture design. Since humans have always objectified nature and animals in their practice, I am exploring using limbs and human features for a change, maybe as twist of fate that the downfall of the Anthropocene might bring. I have experimented with the human form using different mediums by deconstructing and reconstructing it to better represent our collective emotions in a crumbling society. The result is a genderless anthropomorphic being that anyone can project themselves onto.

About Unison

UNISON is three identical stackable stools that have noses for legs and a flower shaped cushion. When stacked, it reveals its true form and becomes a sculptural element to animate the space it’s living in. The features complete each other to show faces all around it, representing our community that came together in times of crises, and supported each other when our government was absent.
The stools body is 3d printed, then sanded and painted. Each stool weighs 4 kgs, which insures ease of stacking while maintaining its strength to hold a person sitting on it. The cushions are upholstered then fixed to the body with strings that go into holes all around the body keeping it from popping out.
