FSWD Networking Event in Washington
On 23 October in the morning, discover From Spain With Design, a presentation of Spanish design bringing together Spanish and Dutch designers for a dialogue around creativity, innovation and new perspectives. Expect inspiring presentations, conversations and an exchange of ideas exploring the connections between the two design communities.

Under the title Affinities Between Design and People, the programme presents a selection of projects and experiences developed in Spain that demonstrate how design can help create more accessible and inclusive spaces, address environmental challenges, strengthen communities, and create new opportunities through collaboration.

One of the key strands of the programme will be Divers+s Lab: Co-designing Accessibility to Culture with People with Intellectual Disabilities, presented by Juan Lázaro. The project explores design as a tool for developing transformative solutions to real social needs.

The programme will continue with PET Lamp, a project led by Spanish industrial designer Álvaro Catalán de Ocón, internationally recognised for his work at the intersection of design, craftsmanship and reuse, and recipient of the National Design Award in 2023. The presentation of PET Lamp will be followed by a conversation between Álvaro Catalán de Ocón and Pascale Theron, two designers who incorporate collective knowledge, collaboration and cultural exchange into their creative processes.

The programme will also explore the potential of design to create opportunities and strengthen communities through Together We Design, an initiative presented by Marta Pascual_U-ak. This will be followed by a conversation between Marta Pascual and Petra Janssen, from Social Label and members of The Bridge on Design Collective, focusing on design as a tool for education, inclusion and collective participation.

Finally, before the Networking session, Uqui Permui will close the programme with the action “En negro contra las violencias” (“In Black Against Violence”), a collective social awareness campaign that seeks to make visible the public and collective rejection of violence against women.
