These works continue on a previous material research where she simulates the effects of human influence on the Earth’s crust.
Trashure series
Her intend is primarily to catch the eye and inspire: to see waste as something that can become something beautiful. Secondly she intents to make people aware of the serious fact that a big part of our waste still ends up in nature. Plastic has already found its way into our Earth's crust.
The objects are made out of men-made trash such as plastic bags, washed up plastics and city container waste. The trash is mixed with cement concrete and bio resin. The used techniques are similar to those that shape and reshape the earth like erosion, heating and grinding.
Over jorien wiltenburg
In her works Jorien Wiltenburg likes to question our perception of nature. She has a fascination for (changing) nature, materials and crafts. With unusual combinations like the old & new and natural & men-made. She likes to create visually unexpected outcomes.
