Discover the DDW Talks programme!

For the first time this year, Dutch Design Week has curated a DDW Talks programme together with different partners. Based on seven themes we investigate the many facets of design. Together with key figures from the field of design and beyond, we explore a diversity of design disciplines, discussing current affairs, reflecting on the past and casting our minds into the future. Discover the various themes and dates below.

Sunday 20 October - Architecture & Public Space

In the Architecture & Public Space Talk, we consider new design concepts for the future of building, urban transformation and public space. Learn more about circularity, technology and creating cities with and for people.

Monday 21 October - Social Design

On this Social Design day we will explore a number of best practices in social design, from conversation pieces to system changes. We discover how diverse the field really is and what is all involved. Based on the Field H@cks case we will debate, when can you consider your social design project to be a success? We will discuss the various approaches for creating ownership and how you can design yourself ‘away’.

Tuesday 22 October - Future Living

Leolux and Frame team up to present an inspiring and imaginative vision on future living in DDW Talks. Johannes Torpe and Studio Lonk talk about their off the track design solutions on the topic, with pioneering interior design and architecture concepts that push past traditional boundaries.

Wednesday 23 October - Bio Design

The Bio Design Talk gets you up to speed on the rapidly developing field of Bio Design. Bio Design crosses the border between the ‘made’ and the ‘born’. Bio design overtakes imitation and biomimicry, completely dissolving the boundaries between organisms and objects. A happy marriage between biology and technology.

Thursday 24 October - Art & Collectables

In collaboration with our art & collectible partners we present a talk programme diving into the collectible design eco system where specialists from both the art- and design industry share their insights and reflect on the latest initiatives to expand the collectible design market, as well as the market for tech and experience- based art.
