This project is part of WORTH Partnership Project

Common Sands is a collection of decorative and functional homeware accessories made from waste-glass components of discarded household appliances. The intrinsic properties of the components give the objects their added value.

The re-use of waste glass from electric and electronic equipment (WEEE) is problematic following the usual recycling processes for glass because of their intrinsic properties; such as colour and varying composition. Using those properties as an added value forms the ambition of the project as it is set out to find virtuous shapes and applications for these local resources of global heritage. Common Sands is the result of an intensive collaboration with experts and craftsmen, leading to the development of new methods and ultimately new perspectives for those resources.
