Hedwich Hooghiemstra’s LIUW lighting collection engages with light and layered compositions of colored glass. She designs calming spaces and objects that bring contemplation and leave someone to drift off.
“Seemingly empty experiences, where the mind wonders while the eyes are left to focus on a single point. LIUW attempts to catch these moments in order to give the viewer a focus point inviting them to drift off. Situated in a private or public space, the light sculptures enriches the atmosphere and the identity of its environment. Either turned on or off, LIUW’s physical presence turns light into a shape.”
