The symbol that everything is transformed, the Colibrí, shows a path towards Upcycling. Its skin is a sample of the textures, composition and shapes of recycled denim. These make an allegory to the Peruvian pre-Hispanic fabrics, mainly the Quipu, whose knots told part of its millenary history.
"QUIPUBIRD", Weaving connections towards a new cycle
The textile industry is part of the Peruvian culture, since the first civilizations. Fabrics were even created to tell their story, through their knots and shapes: The Quipu.
I link an ancient art with a modern material: denim. I create various shapes and textures using recycled denim as a raw material. My intention is to show how giving a new cycle to a material is very polluting in its manufacturing process, creating a sculpture of a hummingbird, a bird that symbolizes transformation, the skin of the sculpture works as a catalog of various techniques that can be applied in clothing and accessories. wearing recycled denim.
