Should it be easy to dress ourselves or is there something to gain from a little concentration and work when putting clothing on our bodies? The cable sweater is a research about clothing and clothing experience. Can we have a more playful and interesting relationship with clothing, and can we be more involved with the pieces on our body’s. The traditional cable sweater is a beautiful piece of clothing, it has a deep history in dutch craft. The wives of the fisher men would knit different patterns in their husbands cable sweaters, recognisable by the region were they were from. I started of with the cable sweater because I saw the potential of the theatrical act when closing a cable yourself. Like the fishermen’s wives I wanted to create something that would be more meaningful to the person wearing it. My angle is one where the wearer would interact with the piece itself and maybe that would spark some joy and build a different relation with the piece.

Theater and expo

I will be part of a expo at carte blanche, the expo is a selection of makers all interested in Touchables objects. Together with frist achten and Sjoerd geerts .. we collaborated with the theater players on pieces they could play, use and move around in. 3 times a day there will be a 15 min performance and the pieces will come to live. The rest of the time the expo will be there to visit and to experience the Touchables objects.
