Investigating the possibilities of rattan, orange or red comes up with innovative applications, both in terms of design as well as manufacturing techniques. The combination of rattan with recycled PET yarn results in beautiful products: sustainable, circular and with a timeless aesthetic.
modular, circular
Designer Marieke van Heck studied the materials themselves: their specific qualities and the ways they could be connected. She has developed a modular system in which elements can be used in varying compositions, replaced or separated from each other.
objects
Marieke then developed three concrete objects. Curved rattan uprights are literally interwoven with cloths made of PET yarn. The combination of these materials results in an entirely new image. The deceptive simplicity of the objects and the designer’s recognizable style give rattan a timeless aesthetic.
