My Room of the world

The worn landscape — © Marjolein Minnaert

The Norwegian nature brings Camille Paroissien back to the essence in an indescribable way. It is not only the purely aesthetic beauty that touches her, but also the emotions that the capriciousness, the vastness and the contradictions evoke in her. Her 'worn' landscape.

A walk through my room of the world

Her work is not an exact reproduction of scenes within the Norwegian nature. Rather, they intend to simultaneously evoke a feeling of awe, human finitude and natural mystical grandeur. The textiles translate the experience of nature into an abstraction of shapes and colours with an attention for both the harsh and cold climate; and the warm mystical playof colours that vary throughout the day. Her textile works can be worn on the body as a blanket, jacket or scarf. In this way she is able to symbolically carry her emotions and experience of the Norwegian landscapes.
