How do I book a tour?

Through the Design Tours booking system:

  • Step 1.
Choose one of the Design Tours. You can find more information on the various tours here.

  • Step 2.
Choose an available date and time slot and select the number of participants.

  • Step 3.
The maximum number of participants for a tour is 15 people. If you are booking for more than 15 people, you will have to book multiple tours.

This works as follows in the booking system:
  1. Enter the total number of people on the form.
  2. The system shows how many tours you will need to accommodate everyone, initially in the same timeslot.
  3. If the chosen timeslot is fully booked, the system will look for other available timeslots for the remaining tours.
  • Step 4.
If you are booking a Custom Tour, we will also ask you to indicate your organisation’s areas of interest by selecting three to five topics. Based on this information, our team will arrange a customised tour.

  • Step 5.
Let us know in which language you would like to follow the tour(s): Dutch or English.

  • Step 6.
Add the tour reservation to your shopping cart.

  • Step 7.
Check the overview of the selected tour. Is everything correct? Proceed to the next step.

  • Step 8.
To prepare a quote for you, we will ask for your contact information and reference number.

Note: Please ensure that you provide the correct details in this form. These are the details that will appear on the quote and the invoice.

  • Step 9.
Review the total overview of your booking.

  • Step 10.
You will receive a quote from us. You then have 7 days to accept the quote, after which you will receive the invoice.

Note: If you do not sign and accept the quote within this period, your reservation will no longer be valid.

  • Step 11.
    Enjoy your Design Tour!

Participants

How many people can participate in a tour?

The maximum number of participants on a tour is 15 people. If you are booking for more than 15 people, you will need to book multiple tours.

This works as follows in the booking system:

  1. Enter the total number of people on the form.
  2. The system shows how many tours you will need to accommodate everyone, initially in the same timeslot.
  3. If the timeslot is fully booked, the system will look for other available timeslots for the remaining tours.

I have already booked a tour but more people want to join, is that possible?

This is possible, up to a maximum of 15 people per tour.

To make this possible, book extra regular DDW tickets in the ticket shop. Then make sure that the DDW tickets have been exchanged for DDW wristbands before the start of the tour.

Please note: it is important that you let the Design Tours team know about any additional participants so that they can make sure the required equipment is available at the start of the tour. Do this by emailing tours@dutchdesignfoundation.com.

You can register extra participants until 14 October at the latest.

I have booked a tour for more people than will be attending, can I return the booked tickets?

No, unfortunately, we do not accept ticket returns. However, Dutch Design Week runs for nine days, and the tickets can be used on any of those days. We recommend giving the extra tickets to a colleague, friend, or family member!

I have already booked a tour but I want to book (more) bikes, is this possible?

No, unfortunately this is not possible.

Additional bikes can be rented at various locations during Dutch Design Week. It is also possible to rent public transport bikes at Central Station and Strijp-S Station.

Dates and times

When do the tours take place?

The tours take place during Dutch Design Week from Saturday 19 to Sunday 27 October.

The Design Tours can be booked in time slots. There is a time slot every half hour and a break between 13:00 and 13:30. There are a limited number of tours available per time slot.

If there are no more tours available in a specific time slot, it means that the maximum number of tours has already been reached and no more tours can depart due to the limited availability of our Design Guides.

What is the duration of a tour?

The Area and Mission Tours last 120 minutes. The Klokgebouw Tour and Microlab Tours last 75 minutes.

The Custom Tours vary in duration from 90 minutes, 120 minutes, 150 minutes to 180 minutes.
