Sit differently. Made differently. Think differently.
In a world where artificial intelligence paralyses us and the exhaustion of people and the planet leaves lasting scars, encouraging creative, physical interaction is becoming increasingly important. Physical interaction leads to innovations that matter: innovations needed to offer people and nature a positive future. Through physical interaction, we also build empathy for one another, experience moments of happiness and understand each other better.
Through its designs, StudioVIX aims to encourage creative, physical collaboration in work and learning environments. StudioVIX’s designs spark different forms of interaction. “We want to encourage collaboration and learning from one another in a way that engages our whole bodies and our creative abilities. This helps us understand each other better, broaden our understanding and become actively involved. That is precisely what creates a sense of purpose, fulfilment and innovation.”
A new perspective on sitting. Kneeling. Standing. And still sitting.
StudioVIX’s Active Eco Furniture concept encourages healthy, alternative ways of working and learning. Seating with a small environmental footprint. At DDW, StudioVIX presents two types of seating that offer a new perspective on the conventional sitting posture:
* Falabella, a kneeling chair;
* Grutto, a stand-lean-sit stool.
Both seating objects encourage an active, healthy posture—and with it, an active mindset. When we sit differently, our perspective shifts and we see things from a different angle. This gives us new insights and stimulates our creativity.
Both have a small environmental footprint. Made from eco-friendly sheet material, they can be transported flat and assembled like a puzzle, thanks to cleverly designed, glue-free joints.
Made from roadside grass and waste denim
For DDW, StudioVIX collaborated with SAM Panels to produce one of the chairs from bio-based sheet material that is non-toxic, safe to use and made entirely from either grass or pure waste denim. The material consists of grass collected from Dutch roadsides and denim fibres recovered from industrial denim dryers.
StudioVIX designs products and interiors that encourage creative learning, active collaboration and knowledge exchange. Products and interiors for work and learning environments where ideas, encounters and impact take shape.
SAM Panels transforms cellulose-rich residual streams, such as grass, hemp, paper and denim, into high-quality sheet material. Hydrogen bonds and heat bind the residual material together, making it entirely non-toxic and 100% recyclable. It is easy to process and offers endless possibilities for anyone who wants to create inventively and move forward sustainably.
