What if we designed education and work for human diversity instead of the average? WAVE invites Dutch Design Week visitors to explore neuro-inclusive prototypes and workshops. Join us, share feedback, and help shape an inclusive future!

From exception to starting point

Many educational and workplace systems are designed around an imagined average user. For people with different ways of thinking, processing information, and communicating, this can create unnecessary barriers. WAVE explores what happens when neurodiversity is considered from the very beginning of the design process. The project demonstrates how relatively small changes in physical, social, and digital environments can make a significant difference in inclusion, accessibility, and wellbeing.

Prototypes in action: the workshops

During Dutch Design Week, WAVE organizes a series of interactive workshops that invite visitors to experience neuro-inclusive design firsthand. The prototypes translate research insights into tangible applications and demonstrate how alternative design choices can contribute to better learning and working conditions. Visitors are encouraged to test, reflect on, and provide feedback on the concepts in teams. During the workshops, you will work together as a team to experience and design prototypes. Each workshop lasts one hour. We will begin by introducing WAVE and its goals, after which you will roll up your sleeves and get hands-on with the activities and prototypes. After the workshop, you are welcome to stay a little longer to ask questions, exchange ideas, or explore the topics in greater depth.

Designing together

WAVE views inclusion as a design challenge that requires collaboration across different perspectives. For this reason, the project invites visitors not only to observe but also to become co-designers. By sharing experiences, ideas, and insights, participants collectively explore how education and work can become more inclusive in the future. WAVE offers not only a view of possible solutions, but also an invitation to actively contribute to a future in which more people can participate, learn, and thrive.

There are three workshops, at 12.00, 13.30 and 15.00.
